Heritage Volunteers
NADFAS Heritage Volunteers are teams of committed non-specialist volunteers who work under the guidance of curators and other professionals to help conserve our heritage. At present Mendip DFAS is actively seeking suitable projects for this work.

NADFAS Heritage Volunteers may undertake projects for:
• museums
• National Trust properties
• historic houses
• libraries and gardens

A request from Downside abbey has been received for roles of New Acquistions Cataloguer (computer proficiency required ) and a small Team on Preventative Conservation. In both circumstances training will be provided.
They are keen that the Volunteers attended regularly during 2016 and reliability is essential. There may be scope to extend beyond 2016.
Downside Abbey has the largest monastic library in Britain. It houses a wonderful collection of books, medieval manuscripts, and archive material collected primarily over the last 200 years. With over 400,000 books, periodicals and papers dating back to the 11th century, the collection is both of national and international importance.
All those interested please contact John Rackham (01749 676519) or e-mail He would like to arrange a meeting with Downside week commencing 8th Feb '16 so please respond asap.
